What Color Should I Paint The Washer And Dryer Cabinets? (Two Options) – Walk-In Closet Progress

I continue to advance in the progress of my dress room/laundry room, and in the last two days, I have made my main mission all the projects that would create dust so that I can get all my things: clothes, bags and shoes) as soon as possible. Then, with that main objective in mind, I put the upper part of the island sanded, printed and painted, I installed the countertops in the washing machine and dryer cabinets and cut them, full and sanded wood, and then I directed my attention to the edge on the posterior wall and around the washer and dryer cabinets so that all sanded, chaos and painted.

I did not paint everything, and even the part that I painted still needs a second layer. But once that edge ends, I will only need to sand a little at the base of the island, and then I can clean all the dust and move my things. Anything else that should be done on the island, finish the boxes of drawers, make the drawers and do the doors, it can be done outside not to create more disorder and dust in this room.

I will still have to be bordered on the plaster panel once you begin to frame the door …

But I can easily cover some plastic, together with the fronts of those cabinets that flank the door already along the roof, to keep the dust out of the room.

All that to say that I am so close to be able to move my things! I really hope that by today (Tuesday), I will do all the messy projects here, clean all the dust and I will start moving things. I have had my washing machine and dryer working overtime in recent days since they moved last Thursday and connected (which makes my smell of closet makes my closet my closet. So goodBy the way 😀 😀), so I’m muttering to get everything in its place.

Last Friday, when I shared the last progress, the washing machine and the dryer were inside, but the cabinets were still without countertops.

Here is a closer view of the cabinets without the upper front edge and the countertops …

After adding the 1 × 2 edge along the upper front edge of those cabinets, I added the coutnertops, which are just a piece of 3/4 “plywood wood to fit the width of the cabinet and cut to the depth of the cabinet plus approximately 1/4”. And then I trim that plywood with additional 1 × 2 wooden pieces, mitigated in the corner. There is nothing luxurious in that.

So here is progress. The countertops are on. They have been full of wood (where the edge is with the upper plywood), sanded and prepared. The molding of the crown on the posterior wall and wrapping the washing machine and dryer areas are signed, and painted half painted. The edge of the window has the first layer of paint. I still need to sand, calm down and paint the socket. You can also see that the upper part of the island is painted, but I don’t get a good image of that. You will have to wait to see that later. 🙂

Anyway, while I was working on all this in recent days, I began to wonder if the washing machine and dryer cabinets would be better painted in dark blue to coincide with the washing machine and the dryer and mix better with the wallpaper. I decided to try it on Sunday night and left the house to go to Home Depot at 7:30. They close at 8:00 on Sundays. I should have expected because that did not leave me much time to choose a paint color, and I was wrong. Very incorrect. In addition, for some reason, the color of the painting I chose could not be mixed in the painting I wanted, and the only painting in which they could mix it was a cheap Behr paint that I had never heard of before. It was horrible and did not cover at all. But at least I could paint the first layer in the countertop with a darker color and have an idea of how it would look …

You can see that the color I chose is too light to match the wallpaper and appliances.

I did not have time to get more paint yesterday, so I decided to paint the cabinet with the color of dark paint that I had chosen randomly (without paper up in hand) to paint the interior of the cabinets before the washing machine and the dryer were installed. Again, if I obscure these, this will not be the final color. I’m just trying to have an idea of how they would look if they were painted dark.

I had to laugh at myself because you can see for that selection of paint color, which I chose without the wallpaper in my hand, how much gravito towards the blue. When I chose that paint color to paint the interior of the cabinets, I really thought I was choosing a true navy blue. But compared to the true blue of the dryer, you can see that I, once again, chose a bluish green. That color of paint has a lot of green compared to the dryer. I tell you that if you open me, I will bleed the bluish green! 😀 It’s alone in my veins! I can’t choose a real blue to save my life.

So, believe me, I know that this looks horrible, and that it is the wrong color for this area. I will need to find a blue that has absolutely no green for the final color … if I go with the dark color for these cabinets. But at least this can give us an idea of how a dark color would look in these cabinets. However, you have to use your imagination. But the question is …

Should these Cabinets darken so that they coincide with the washing machine, the dryer and the tapestry paper?

Or should they maintain the light to match the rest of the cabinets and all the ornaments of the room?

And if I obscure the color, what about the sockets in those cabinets? Again, all the ornaments of the room are being painted to match the light blue of the cabinets …

And that will include the socket on the posterior wall of the room under the window …

I originally thought that if the cabinet and the countertop are dark, it would keep the plate light to keep that constant line around the room of the same color. (Sorry for my dust).

Hopefully, you can imagine how that would be seen once the socket under the window is painted in light blue.

But once I got back and looked at him, I didn’t like how that looked. That socket seems to scream for attention. So, if I go with the dark blue in the cabinet and the countertop, I really believe that the sockets only in the washing machine and dryer cabinets must also be dark. Don’t you think?

And although I cannot think of any example of when I have done that with the sockets, I have certainly done it with crown moldings before. The molding of the crown on the fireplace in our living room continues around the entire room, but while the rest of the crown is painted white, I painted the crown just around the chimney in the same bluish green of the fireplace.

So, if I go with the dark blue to match the wallpaper and appliances, basically do the same with the sockets around those cabinets, and then the base under the window would continue with light blue like the rest of the edge.

With all this said, what do you think? Should I get dark with those two cabinets (with a paint color that really coincides, of course)? Or should I continue with clear blue to match the rest of the cabinets?

Update: I remembered that I had a dark blue sample in color that I used on the edge around the mirror closet section with tapiz paper, so I used it to paint the left dryer cabinets. This is how the right color is seen …

And then I made a small copy and hit the photo edition to compare both colors used in both cabinets. Here’s the light …

And here is the dark …

Here are one next to the other …
