Friends, once again, I am excited to share the newest layer of English house style at our house, and I hope you inspire you! As many of you know, Blue & White Transferware is one of the favorites around here, and the collection has grown slowly over the years. Recently, I was playing a favorite podcast where Marian Parsons (also known as Miss Mustard Seed) was talking about her Ironstone collection. Its point was not new: that the collections have more impact when grouped. This made me think of these beautiful dishes that I had dispersed throughout the house. While I enjoyed them in many rooms, I wondered how they would all look together …

Enter one of my favorite inspiration images. This photograph of the book entitled: Miranda Innes’s field decorator He has captured my admiration over and over again.

This little corner of a kitchen has a lot of rustic charm of the Old World, peculiarity of Higgledy and refined elegance at the same time. Blue and white catch me, of course. This was also my first introduction to the drainage dishes of ancient meat. They are the dishes in the image that seem flat and have perforations. A long time ago, these strainers would be placed at the bottom of a pan under the meat to allow fat to drain. History so great! I started hunting one of these beauties …

Only for fun, here is a “before” of the wall of our kitchen before completely remodeling.

Here is a look at the next phase where we paint the cabinets.

And that’s how it looks today! Matt helped me hang my dishes collection one night after dinner. My goal was to have an appearance of order since it was a declaration design, but not being too rigid since the Quirk is part of the charm. We start with the largest and most striking dish in the center and one equally large centered just below. Then we just built from there.

As you can see, I found one of those old old meat strainer dishes! They are more difficult to find than regular octagonal dishes. There are some gaps in the collection, but that is great for me. I can take my time to find the perfect pieces to complete. I hope you enjoyed this publication and inspire me as me to gather a favorite collection and show it as a group.

Until next time
Take care,
Rachel
