are you glowing? – Re-Fabbed

“You are shining.” This was what people would tell me thirteen years ago after having announced that I was pregnant with my first child. Honestly, it is a fairly common phrase that is said to pregnant women. He had always thought it was a pretty phrase that was said to show the happiness of someone who is going to be a mother. However, I recently learned that, although yes, many of these women are probably ecstatic to be mothers, there is real scientific evidence related to this “brightness.” Called “Emberreta Grisma”, this is a real change in skin condition due to the increase in hormones during pregnancy. The increase in these hormones can cause your glands to produce more oil, which in turn poses a “brightness.” It is very interesting to think that this life event has a brightness effect on many mothers. These mothers are shining because they find a new life.

In the Old Testament we see a man who met God and left him brilliant. God had told Moses to climb Mount Sinai to meet him. This was actually the second time that Moses went up a mountain to register God’s covenant after having broken the former when people worshiped the golden calf. Moses goes up to the mountain and stays there with the Lord for forty days and forty nights while God wrote the terms for the covenant.

“When Moses lowered Mount Sinai, carrying the two stone tablets registered with the terms of the covenant, I didn’t know that His face had become radiant Because he had spoken with the Lord. Then, when Aaron and the people of Israel saw the glow of Moses’ face, they were afraid to approach him. But Moses called them and asked Aaron and all the leaders of the community who came, and spoke with them. Then all the people of Israel approached him, and Moses gave them all the instructions that the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai. When Moses finished talking to them, he covered his face with a veil. But every time I went to the store to meet to talk to the Lord, he eliminated the veil until he came out again. Then he would give people any instruction that the Lord has given him and the people of Israel would see the Radiant brightness of his face. Then he pulled the veil on his face until he returned to speak with the Lord. ” Exodus 34: 29-35

Moses had an encounter with God and left differently. Every time he met with the Lord, he went out with notable differences. He always changed after spending time with God. And every time, others would notice. They would know that Moses had spent time with the Lord, since they could see the brightness on his face. Can people see a notable difference in me because I spend time with the Lord? Do I have enough daily encounters with God to leave brightness?

Recently, I really saw a “brilliant” change in someone who had been transformed by Christ. Now, don’t melinterpret. There have been many times in my life where I have seen someone give their lives to Christ and his behaviors, words and actions change. Recently, however, I saw a woman give Christ to Christ and I could notice “The Glow” in her. This woman had been tied by religion for many years and had no relationship with Christ. Most of the time I saw it previously, it seemed used. After seeing her give her life to Christ, I can really see a physical change in her countenance. His face was really brilliant from his internal transformation. He was grateful to have been able to share this story of transformation with her and encourage her that she can physically see a difference in her life of her salvation. Can people say the same about us? Can a lost world say that we have been spending time with God because we are radiating its qualities? I pray that we take the time to spend with God and that we are really changed due to our encounters with him.
